Free WhatsApp QR code generator

Make a QR code that opens a WhatsApp chat with your number and your first message already written. Download it for print.

Type the number without the country code. Nothing you type here is sent to us or stored: the link and the QR code are made in your browser.

Your QR code

The QR code appears when the number is filled in.

Your WhatsApp link

Type the number above and your link appears here.

How to make a WhatsApp QR code

  1. Choose the country code and type the WhatsApp number, without the country code.
  2. Write the message people should send first. It is optional, and it makes the first chat easier.
  3. Download the PNG for screens and print, or the SVG for posters and signs. The link behind it is shown too.

PNG or SVG?

The PNG is a large picture (2000 pixels wide), fine for a visiting card, a menu, a sticker or a social media post. The SVG is made of shapes rather than pixels, so it stays perfectly sharp however big you print it: use it for shop signs, banners and hoardings.

Printing tips

  • Print it at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) wide for a counter or card, and larger for a poster you scan from a distance.
  • Keep dark code on a light background, and leave the white border around it.
  • Scan the printed code with a phone before you print a thousand copies.
  • Put a short line next to it, such as “Scan to chat with us on WhatsApp”.

Where a WhatsApp QR code helps

Shop counters and tables, menus, product boxes and packaging, visiting cards, posters, event stalls, invoices and delivery slips. Anyone who scans it with their phone camera opens a chat with you. If you want the plain link instead, use the WhatsApp link generator.

When you outgrow a single code

With VartaAPI you can save a link and QR code for each poster, advert or shop, and answer every chat from one shared inbox on the official WhatsApp Business API.

Questions

WhatsApp QR code generator, answered.

Is the WhatsApp QR code generator free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no expiry. The code never stops working.
Does the QR code expire?
No. The code simply contains your WhatsApp link, so it works for as long as that number is on WhatsApp. If you change the number or the message, make a new code.
Do you store my number or message?
No. The code is made in your own browser. Your number and message are not sent to us or to anyone else.
What happens when someone scans it?
Their phone opens WhatsApp with a chat to your number and your message ready to send. They tap send to start the conversation.
Does it work for a WhatsApp Business number?
Yes. It works for any number registered on WhatsApp, including the WhatsApp Business app and numbers on the WhatsApp Business API.
Why will my code not scan?
Usually it is too small, printed on a dark or patterned background, or has had its white border cut off. A very long pre-written message also makes a dense code that is harder to read; shorten the message.
