Free WhatsApp button for your website

Add a floating WhatsApp button to your site, with an optional chat window that shows your name, logo and a greeting. Set it up, try it in the preview, then copy one piece of code.

1. Your number and message

so you know which page they wrote from

2. The button

Position on the page

3. Chat window (optional)

4. A different message per page (optional)

For example, on your pricing page the message can say “I have a question about prices”. The first rule that matches is used; other pages use the message from step 1.

Nothing you type here is sent to us or stored. The code is made in your browser.

Type the number above and your button appears here.

How to add the button to your website

  1. Fill in your number and message, then choose the button text, colour, roundness and where it sits.
  2. If you want, turn on the chat window and give it your business name, logo and greeting. Try it in the preview, on a computer or a phone.
  3. Press “Copy the code”.
  4. Paste it just before the closing </body> tag of your pages, or into any HTML box your site builder offers.

Adding it to WordPress or Shopify

WordPress: add a “Custom HTML” block or widget to your footer area and paste the code, or use a header and footer plugin and paste it into the footer box.

Shopify: go to Online Store, Themes, Edit code, open theme.liquid and paste the code just before </body>.

Any other site that lets you add your own HTML works the same way.

What this button is, and is not

The plain button is a single link styled to float in a corner. It has no script and sets no cookie, so it does not slow your page. Tapping it opens WhatsApp with a chat to your number and your message ready to send.

The chat window, the page address in the message and a different message per page need a small script. The whole script is inside the code you copy: nothing is loaded from VartaAPI or anywhere else, apart from your own logo if you add one.

It does not answer for you. For that, run your number on the official WhatsApp Business API with a shared team inbox and chatbot replies, or just make a plain WhatsApp link or QR code.

Questions

WhatsApp button for website, answered.

Is the WhatsApp button free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, and there is nothing to install: it is one piece of code that you own.
Does it slow down my website or set cookies?
No. The plain button is one styled link. With the chat window it adds a few kilobytes of script, written into the code itself. Neither sets a cookie. Only if you pick “open by itself, once a day” does it note in the visitor’s browser when it last opened; that note never leaves their browser.
Can I show my logo and a greeting?
Yes. Turn on the chat window and add your business name, a line such as “Typically replies within minutes”, a greeting and a link to your logo. Visitors see it before WhatsApp opens.
Can the message change depending on the page?
Yes. Add the page address or title to the message, or add rules such as “if the address contains /pricing, use this message”, so you know what the visitor was looking at.
Do you store my number?
No. The button is made in your browser and the code is yours. Nothing you type is sent to us.
Can I change the colour, text or side later?
Yes. Come back, set it up the way you want and paste the new code over the old one.
Will it show on phones?
Yes. It is fixed to a corner of the screen on every device, and on a phone it opens the WhatsApp app directly.
Why is the preview not the same size as on my site?
The preview is a small mock page. On your site the button keeps the same size and sits as many pixels from the bottom and the side as you chose.
