Why it matters

Why a provider’s own per-message charge adds up.

Meta’s rate is the floor for every provider. Where a provider resells messages, it adds its own amount to each one. As an example only: an extra ₹0.20 on each of 10,000 marketing messages is ₹2,000 a month, on top of Meta’s ₹8,631 and the provider’s plan, and it grows with every message you send.

VartaAPI is a Meta Tech Provider, and Meta bills each business directly. That is why the same 10,000 marketing messages cost ₹8,631 to Meta plus the plan, and not a rupee more for the messages themselves. Read how the two bills work, or the plain guide to the official WhatsApp Business API.

Questions

WhatsApp Business API pricing, answered.

How much does the WhatsApp Business API cost in India?
Two parts. Meta charges per delivered message: ₹0.8631 for a marketing message, ₹0.115 for a utility or authentication message, and ₹0.115 for each reply after the first 1,000 a month, before GST (its India rate card of 1 October 2026). Your provider then charges for its platform. With VartaAPI that is a flat plan from ₹0 to ₹4,999 a month, and nothing on top of Meta’s rate.
Does VartaAPI add anything to Meta's per-message price?
No. Meta bills the messages directly to the card on your own WhatsApp Business Account, so that money never passes through us and we add nothing to it. Ask any provider for its per-message charge in writing before you sign: some add their own amount to every message.
Which WhatsApp messages are free?
Since 1 October 2026: the first 1,000 replies a month on each number (replies are the messages you send inside the 24-hour window after a customer writes), and anything you send while Meta’s free entry point window is open, which lasts up to 7 days after a customer reaches you through a Click to WhatsApp ad. Messages customers send you are always free. Replies after the first 1,000, and utility templates even inside an open window, are now charged.
Am I charged for a message that is not delivered?
No. Meta charges only for messages that are delivered.
Is there a setup fee, or a wallet I have to top up?
No setup fee and no wallet. You pay VartaAPI for the plan, and Meta for the messages on your own card. The free plan has no expiry and needs no card to start.
Do Meta's rates change?
Yes. Meta updates its rate card from time to time and announces changes in advance; for example, it raised the India marketing rate in January 2026. The figures on this page are from Meta’s India rate card effective 1 October 2026, and we last checked them on 2 October 2026. Meta applies volume discounts to utility and authentication messages at very high monthly volumes; the rate card lists them.
Is GST added?
Meta’s rates are published before tax. VartaAPI’s plan prices exclude GST, which is added at 18% when you pay, with a proper tax invoice carrying your GSTIN.
